What Are We Up to At AWP?

Quick Answer: Lots.

On Thursday, March 1, editor James Tadd Adcox is going to be repping Artifice on the panel “Of, By, and For the People: Indie Lit in The Second City,” from 9-10:15 am in the Lake Ontario Room at the Hilton (along with fellow Chicago Indie Lit editors S. Whitney Holmes, Jacob S. Knabb, Amanda Marbais, and Jonathan Fullmer).

Then at 5, Artifice is going to be teaming up with Mutable Sound and Smalldoggies for a reading at Beef & Brandy (127 S.State St.), feat. Mike Kitchell, J. A. Tyler, A D Jameson, Jen Gann, Colin Winnette, Christian Tebordo, Joel Patton, and Brian Allen Carr.

At 9 on Thursday, join us at Beauty Bar for the AWP 2012 Karaoke Idol, where poet Josh Kleinberg will be representing Artifice against the likes of PANK, Another Chicago MagazineTin House, Featherproof Books, Red Lightbulbs, and Untorward.

On Friday, March 2, join us at the Artifice table from 11am to 1pm for SECRET BRUNCH.

Then join us as Roxane Gay reads for Artifice at the Literary Death Match: Journal Porn Edition that night, at Buddy Guy’s Legends (700 S. Wabash Ave). Doors are at 7, show starts promptly at 8.15. (Special shout-out goes to our friends at Versal, for thinking we’re pretty enough to count as “Journal Porn.”)

And, of course, you should stop by the Artifice table anytime from Thursday to Saturday to say hi. We like you.

Iron Like Nylon

Meghan Lamb, who made several of the videos for the Artifice Issue 4 release (and is one-half of the editorial team of the fantastic Red Lightbulbs), occasionally has a band, Iron Like Nylon, that you should probably be aware of. Here’s “I Am You Are Demanding Lightwaves”:

You can also find Iron Like Nylon’s full back-catalogue, here. We particularly recommend her cover of “Toxic,” on shut up (unfortunately not on youtube, but still free to listen to).
