Artifice Magazine seeks a motivated and energetic individual to provide supportive services for Artifice’s editorial team. Artifice Magazine is a nonprofit literary magazine that aims, by content and context, to showcase creative work aware of its own artifice.
Specific responsibilities will include:
- Managing Artifice’s incoming subscriptions, subscription database and serving as a point-of-contact for all subscribers
- Assist in correspondence, including answering general queries, responding to withdrawals, serving as a contact for vendors
- Supporting editorial staff as needed regarding submissions
- Other projects as determined
The intern will work closely with and be supervised by both James Tadd Adcox, editor, and Ian McCarty, Managing Editor, and will have the opportunity to see, close-up, the process of content selection, design, proofreading, printing, and publication.
This position is an unpaid internship, and will last through the completion of Issue 4 (September/October 2011), with potential for renewal at that time. The position will require 5-10 hours/week of in-person and computer work.
Strong applicants will have some knowledge of literary journal and/or nonprofit work, and will be able to attend weekly weekend meetings. Applicants must live in the Chicago area.
To apply, please email a letter of interest and resume to editors@artificemag.com by June 15, 2011.
